About Daniel

Daniel Guerithault was born in Phoenix, AZ in 1990. He attended Brophy College Prepartory, graduating in the class of 2009. He is currently a freshman at the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University, majoring in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in energy and the environment.

At age nine, Daniel started helping out at the family business, Vincent on Camelback, by working Saturday mornings at the Camelback Market. For four years, he made crêpes. In 2003, he began making panini sandwiches and can still be found at the Camelback Market on Saturday mornings.

While at Brophy, Daniel was involved in many clubs including: FIRST Robotics, the Calc Club, the Photography Club, and NHS (National Honor Society). FIRST Robotics, a national organization started by Dean Kamen, has the mission of putting students directly in contact and working with engineers and mentors in order to complete a five foot by five foot by four foot robot in six weeks. The robot must complete various goals throughout the competition. Daniel was a member for four years. The Calc Club (or Calculus Club) is a service club. Reserved for those students in Calculus, the club makes and sells "cookie jars" in order to raise money for underserved families throughout the community. In 2008, Daniel was elected to Vice-President and the club raised over $14,000. As a member of the Photo Club, Daniel took pictures at school events and had many of them appear in numerous Brophy publications. In 2008, Daniel won third place in Company Magazine's national photo contest. As a member of NHS, Daniel logged over 50 hours of community service.

In October 2009, Daniel launched "How Do You Say Bag?" with The Steve Nash Foundation and Cotton Inc. "How Do You Say Bag?" has the mission of educating the public about the unnecessary usage of plastic bags. In addition, Daniel is selling reusable bags at the Camelback Market with the proceeds going to The Steve Nash Foundation. The Foundation will then use these funds to benefit Educare Arizona, a local school in Phoenix aimed at providing important, crtical education to children from birth to five years old.
